Hyundai planning new SUVs by 2020

With the sports utility vehicle market expanding and changing quickly, Hyundai has announced it will debut eight new or redesigned crossover SUVs by the year 2020.

The first vehicle to arrive will be the much-anticipated 2018 Hyundai Kona which is scheduled to arrive in March with more SUVs with a wide variety of powertrains like batter-electric, hydrogen fuel-cell and diesel.

"The Kona is only the beginning of our product revolution for Hyundai," said Mike O'Brien, Hyundai Motor America vice president. "These vehicles are aimed squarely at the sales leaders in each segment and will emphasize Hyundai's continued focus on sustainability and efficiency without compromising performance."

Under the plan announced this year, Hyundai plans to create a new version of the Santa Fe Sport mid-sized SUV in 2018 and an all-new seven-passenger crossover in 2019. The Tucson is set to be redesigned in 2020 along with the debut of a new truck expected to be called the Santa Cruz. It is also likely that there will be a battery-electric version of the Kona introduced in late 2018

Other new vehicles that Hyundai is planning are a crossover smaller than the Kona in 2019 and a diesel-powered SUV by 2020.

The addition of these SUVs will enhance the already stellar lineup of Hyundai vehicles and Fox Ann Arbor Hyundai is excited about the news. If you're looking for a new or pre-owned vehicle, make Fox Ann Arbor Hyundai your first stop. Our staff is excited to show you around.
